Still Celebrating Our Beloved Blackwater Canyon!

Discover More Here!

Friends of Blackwater, based in Thomas, WV, works to protect and celebrate the cultural and natural heritage of Tucker County — one of the most diverse and historic regions in the state. Through our Tucker County Heritage Project, we’re sharing local history with residents and visitors alike, including a traveling exhibit of over 40 panels highlighting the years 1885–1950 and the pivotal civil rights work of J.R. Clifford and Carrie Williams.

We’re now hiring Full-Time AmeriCorps members for the upcoming program year starting in September 2025! This one-year term (1,700 hours) includes:

  • 💵 A $21,000 living stipend

  • 🎓 A $7,395 education award upon completion

  • 🎟️ Eligibility for up to 2 semesters of WV Public Higher Education Tuition Waiver

If you’re passionate about education, history, and preservation, this is your chance to make a real difference!
